St John’s Jubilee Celebration Dinner held in the Pump Rooms, Bath.

St John’s the Evangelist Church in Bath celebrated its 150th Anniversary recently in Bath’s Historic Pump Rooms. The evening began with a drinks reception around the Roman Baths sponsored by Stone King Solicitors. 180 guests enjoyed the reception followed by a delicious 3 course dinner in the Pump Rooms. Guest speaker was Abbot Aidan Bellenger from Downside Abbey.

Canon David Ryan – Parish Priest at St Johns said “150 years ago, after St John’s was consecrated the parishioners at that time celebrated by enjoying supper in the Pump Rooms. We are delighted that 150 years later we followed in their footsteps by holding our 150th celebration dinner in the Pump Rooms.

Special guests who attended the dinner included the Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Cllr. Neil Butters and his consort Mrs. Charlotte Butters, Mrs. Jennifer Skellett, the Rector of Bath Abbey Rev’d Edward Mason, Mr. Graham Plumb (Gen Manager of Searcys) and Dr Jo Farrer (Chief Executive of Bath & NES Council)

Caroline Taylor – Chair of the Jubilee Committee said “We were delighted to welcome parishioners new and old to the dinner. I want to thank Searcys who gave us tremendous support with the planning of the dinner and for being one of our sponsors, we are also grateful to Bath & NES Council room bookings team who also supported us with the event. I am so grateful to Jubilee Committee Member Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE who helped us organise the dinner, it was a wonderful evening.”

St John’s have held several special events during it’s Jubilee year and money raised by the Jubilee Committee during 2013 will be used to purchase a Commemorative Jubilee gift which will be presented to St John’s and installed in the Church.
