|Chairmans Charity Fashion Show raises money for local charities.|
A fundraising fashion show
raised hundreds of pounds for the charities supported by the chairman of Bath and North
East Somerset Council. Councillor Rob Appleyard hosted the Elegance in the Afternoon
The event was held in the Banqueting Room at Baths Guildhall and included a Champagne reception, afternoon tea, fashion show, raffle and auction.
Music during the Champagne reception was provided by Amy and Ella from Bath Spa University. A variety of clothes were exhibited during the fashion show provided by Country Casuals, Long Tall Sally, Coast, Mimi Noor, East, John Anthony, Sisi & May, Lux, jewellery from Bath Aqua Glass and beautiful Italian Handbags from Ezza Bag Lady. 12 volunteer ladies and 4 men took part as models in the show. And to our wonderful local press, thank you for your support.
Councillor Appleyard said I want to thank all the people who gave freely of their time and resources, from the volunteer models, the hairdressers, makeup artists and volunteer helpers who enabled us to put on a great fashion event with delicious Champagne and a sumptuous Afternoon Tea. We are obviously delighted that everyone had a great afternoon and that we raised significant money for my three charities.
I am also grateful to the Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst, Kerrianne Gauld and their MBC Events Team who alongside my office worked together tirelessly on this event. I want to especially recognise all the contributing shops and businesses; I extend a special thanks to them and hope the public recognise their generosity when planning their future shopping trips.
Hairdressers North, SHQ Hairdressers and The Straight Hair Company kindly gave up their working Saturday afternoon to provide hairdressing for the models and Bath Academy of Media Make up added to the glamour of the models.
BBC Points West and former Bath Chronicle reporter Imogen Sellers was compere, Jimmy McDonnell was an entertaining auctioneer, photographer David Tucker and Show choreographer was Bev Speakman, of BS Services who all gave their time generously. The event was sponsored by Curo Housing, Crest Nicholson, Bath Bus Company and Geometry PR. A presentation of the money to the charities will be made at a civic reception in the next few weeks.
