About the Somerset Catalogue
This Somerset volume brings together 60 collections across the county, which has produced a wide range of genres, covering all periods. This is perhaps best illustrated at Dillington House, with its progressive collecting policy of contemporary works hanging alongside the significant portrait collection of the Malet family. As well as the nationally regarded collections in Bath, including the Victoria Art Gallery and the Holburne Museum, Somerset boasts a number of specialist museums, such as the Fleet Air Arm Museum and the American Museum in Britain which feature over 190 and 90 paintings respectively in this volume.
