The world record for couples doing the waltz was broken in Bath during the Bath Dance festival weekend

Guinness World Records Adjudicator, Katie Forde, presents Joanna Kucia and James Whitehead, with a certificate to acknowledge the new world record for the largest waltz.

Organised by James Whitehead and Joanna Kucia with the assistance of Morgan-Brinkhurst Consultancy as part of the Bath dance festival, the people of Bath spent the Sunday morning of the May bank holiday weekend waltzing the city into the record books. No fewer than 630 dancers of all ages and abilities came together today to break the world record for the number of people waltzing at the same time.

Organised as part of the city’s second dance festival, the 315 couples twirled away their Sunday morning against the historic backdrop of the Abbey and the Roman Baths.

Some of the dancers had dressed for the occasion, while others had simply been out shopping and had taken the opportunity to liven up their Sunday.
